THE NEW DOUBLE ALBUM !

LISTEN: www.myspace.com/louisianamen

ORDER: mail

24 tracks on a 2-disc album by The Louisiana Men, inheritors of a Southern Soul tradition!

Heartbeat of the album is the title track in three different versions, recorded between 1988 and 2010. Backbone however is a selection of concert recordings emphasizing the band's live reputation. Alongside there is a dirty dozen of newly recorded songs in a fifties inspired "less-is-more" approach.

Among the live recordings there are stupendous versions of Ray Charles' Going down to the river and Randy Newman's Louisiana 1927. Homesick and Alex have known each other since they were sixteen years old and it shows in the beautiful interplay between voice and bluesharp.

Curious are the blues recordings in which the band reinvented themselves as blues outfit Johnny Novanex and the Power Generators and managed to create an awesome sound with just a Spanish guitar & bass drum & tremolo guitar ! No bass allowed. Jimmy Reed would have loved it !

As an absolute encore there are four historic recordings of the band including a first demo of the title track featuring the Dutch harmonica legend John Lagrand (died 2005). It is to him this song is dedicated.

Blending Rhythm & Blues, Zydeco, Soul, Gospel and Country Music into the amalgam called Southern Soul takes at least two discs. Well here they are ! "Back to nothing" recorded by The Louisiana Men over the last two years, live and in the studio, and completed with some surprising extras !
